At St Luke's we see ourselves as part of God's worldwide Church. We have particular links with others, some close by and others in far off places.
We support the work of the UCCF Christian Union at Hull University. Although we are not close by the University, we see the work done by this group as a vital ministry. We offer our church buildings for teaching and training events, support them both financially and with regular prayer.
There Is Hope is a catalytic organisation working to encourage united prayer and evangelism in Hull and East Yorkshire. We support by prayer and by our involvement in activities organised by the organisation.
We support the missionary society CMS. We have a link missionary Tricia Wick who is working in the Sudan. As well as financial support, many of the congregation receive regular prayer updates from Tricia when she is back in the UK. You can find out more about Tricia by following this link http://www.cms-uk.org/tabid/508/language/en-GB/Default.aspx , then click on 'Southern Sudan – Patricia Wick'
CROSSLINKS Chris and Ros Howles moved to Kampala in Uganda with their young family during October 2011. Chris is teaching at Uganda Martyrs’ Seminary at Namugongo, north-east Kampala, and helping to prepare students for Christian ministry across the region. Ros is also contributing at the college by giving health lectures to the students in addition to her role as a mother of a young family. Our neighbouring parish is St Andrew's, Kirk Ella. St Luke's was planted by St Andrew's in 1968 and both churches are still a team ministry, although both are independent parishes with their own vicars. The churches work together for the benefit of both communities in areas such as Youth Ministry and parish weekends. http://kirkellachurch.org/
Westfield House is a residential home in Willerby for elderly people. A team from St. Luke’s regularly runs a short service of worship here and this usually takes place on the third Tuesday morning of each month. This event is much appreciated by all the residents and staff who attend and enables us to extend our Gospel ministry to those who would, otherwise, not have the opportunity to hear its good news.
