At St Luke's we see ourselves as part of God's worldwide Church. We have particular links with others, some close by and others in far off places.
We support the work of the UCCF Christian Union at Hull University. Although we are not close by the University, we see the work done by this group as a vital ministry. We offer our church buildings for teaching and training events, support them both financially and with regular prayer.
Through the distribution of Bibles and/or Testaments in many different walks of life – Schools, Hotels, Hospitals, Universities, Colleges, Prisons, to name just a few examples – The Gideons provide a Book which provides an ethical and moral code for society, which gives guidance in life, offers comfort in times of sorrow and loss, inspiration, and deals with many of the issues that people of all ages, nationalities, ethnic and social backgrounds face on a day to day basis. https://www.gideons.org.uk/
Mission Aviation Fellowship enables thousands of aid, relief and mission projects in really remote places. Because that's where some of the greatest human needs are. Flying onto desert and jungle airstrips, lakes and rivers, tracks and roads, MAF’s light aircraft and their mission pilots go the extra miles to provide a lifeline.
Working in partnership with hundreds of other Christian and relief organisations MAF
Our neighbouring parish is St Andrew's, Kirk Ella. St Luke's was planted by St Andrew's in 1968 and the two churches now form a joint benefice, although both remain independent parishes. The churches work together for the benefit of both communities in areas such as youth ministry and parish weekends. http://kirkellachurch.org/
Westfield House is a residential home in Willerby for elderly people. A team from St. Luke’s regularly runs a short service of worship here and this usually takes place on the fourth Friday morning of each month. This event is much appreciated by all the residents and staff who attend and enables us to extend our Gospel ministry to those who would, otherwise, not have the opportunity to hear its good news.
